Funeral Services will be held 10 AM Jan. 6, 2012, at St. Daniel's Catholic Church in Wheatland, CA. Richard Boyd Barton was born on Oct. 17, 1947 in Marysville, CA to Richard H. and Eleanor Hamon Barton. He married Terri Ewing on April 2, 1990, in Omaha, NE. Richard proudly served his country as an Army medic in the Vietnam War and later in the Air Force. He worked for the Army Corps of Engineers for 37 years. Richard retired in February 2010. He was a loyal fan to his favorite sports teams: the Atlanta Braves, California Berkeley Bears Football, Boston Celtics and the St. Louis Rams. He coached little league baseball and basketball teams and was an incredible sports enthusiast. He was a unique musical talent and could play the accordion, piano, and drums. Hearing music just one time, he could play a piece perfectly. As a teen, he played with his brothers in a band in Wheatland. Survivors include his wife, Terri, his daughters Gabrielle (R.D.) Burley, Washington, DC, Rachel Fachini, Munford, TN, and Danielle Cox, Bettendorf, IA; parents Richard and Eleanor Barton of Wheatland, CA; brothers David (Debbie) Barton of Las Vegas, NV, Jeffrey (Sandy) Barton, Wheatland, CA, and Bradford Barton, Wheatland, CA. Richard was adored by his grandchildren Jacob Fachini, Carson Burley, Jeffrey Nelson, Morgan Burley, and Carter Jones. He was cherished by numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws, including the entire Ewing Family. Richard was a vocal advocate for veterans. He supported the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund as well as St. Jude's Hospital. In lieu of flowers, please donate to either of these charities.
