SISTER RUTH HELEN BROUMAS (GLORIA ANN BROUMAS)
APR 20, 1948 - JUL 10, 2013
Beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, great-aunt and Franciscan Sister of 47 years serving her church and spreading her faith, passed after a long illness. A native of California, our loving sister was a graduate of Wheatland High School. She also attended UC CAL Northridge, receiving her Bachelors Degree in History, minor in Math. She had a passion for computers and also making Rosary's for charity. After graduating high school she entered the Franciscan Sisters of Assisi, in San Fernando, CA. There she became an educator, 30 years of teaching students of all ages was her greatest joy. Even though our sister loved being a nun and all that it entailed, she loved and looked forward to her vacations at home. It was there she could be herself with family and friends, shopping, home cooked dinners, watching movies and family reunions filled her time. Sister Ruth was competitive in games at reunions and challenging her nephews at chess. Her family always gathered around her, no matter who or what the situation, our sister was the center of attention. Her parents Peter Broumas & Helen Broumas-Creps and her sister Penny Banister-Creps preceded her in death. Her brothers and their spouses, Harry & Jill Broumas, Peter & Sharon Broumas, John & Kathryn Broumas and Step-Father David Creps and all her nieces and nephews survive her. A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday July 18, 2013 at Poverello of Assisi Retreat, 1519 Wooworth Street, San Fernando, CA. Burial at Mission Hills Cemetery, Mission Hills, California. Memorial Contributions may be sent to: Franciscan Sisters of Assisi, 1519 Woodworth Street, San Fernando, CA 91340 or the Parkinson Foundation.
